Whinyard Rocks Still Red
A vibrant red wine from the picturesque Radnor Valley.
Created by Susan and James; two people trying to make wine on a hillside in Powys, Wales.
Whinyard Rocks are a small-scale low-intervention vineyard on our fourth-generation sheep farm. Their grapes are grown regeneratively and ferment on indigenous wild yeasts. They adopt a natural approach, where no synthetic chemicals are used in both the vineyard and the winery. All wines contain no added sulphur, and don't undergo any fining or filtering. This gives us wines that honestly reflect the Welsh hillside the grapes are grown on.
Whinyard Rocks Still Red is a blend of Regent and Rondo, grape varieties that happily prefer the cooler climate we experience in the UK. Regent is a hybrid known for its resistance to disease and ability to ripen in less-than-ideal conditions, producing wines that are fruity with a good balance of acidity and tannins. It often exhibits flavours of dark berries and cherries. Rondo, another hybrid, is celebrated for its deep colour and rich, fruity profile, often showcasing notes of plum and blackcurrant.
Whilst being deep red in colour, Whinyard Rocks Still Red is light to medium bodied. It has flavours of cherries, crushed wind-swept blackcurrants, delicate peppered spice and a tickle of vanilla thanks to some oak ageing.
