Villa Mottura Primitivo di Manduria

A bold and fruity red from the south of Italy. Full of character and easy drinking charm.

The Estate It was 1927 when Pasquale Mottura looked out over the vast stretches of vineyards he had gradually set up over the years and decided to give new life to the fruit of his work by founding one of the most important wineries on the Salento.

Mottura has always set itself ambitious quality goals, convinced of the expressive power of native local grape varieties such as Primitivo and Negroamaro and committed to continuing ancient wine-making traditions. The grapes are harvested by hand when they have just achieved optimum ripeness, they are carefully selected and sorted to ensure only the best quality grapes are used in the wine.

The winemaking follows a traditional maceration of ten to twelve days, followed by fermentation under a controlled temperature. Extraction of colour and varietal character from the grape skins is further aided by pumping the juice over the cap. Visually the wine is a deep hue of red with purple hints. Overflowing aromas of red fruit, morello cherry, jam and subtle notes of walnut are partnered with a velvety and full-bodied palate. This bold and fruity wine makes for a great crowd pleaser that will pair nicely with red meats, roast dinners and aged cheese.
