Thibault Liger Belair Bourgogne Gamay
A beautiful blend of grapes and regions. Fresh, fruity and elegant
The Cuvée Bourgogne "les Deux Terres" comes from a blend of both Beaujolais and Bourgogne Côte d'Or. This is why it has the name of "les Deux Terres" (the two lands). Every year the grapes that are picked are the best grapes coming from several domains, the blend consists of Gamay from Beaujolais, Bourgogne Pinot Noir and Hautes Côte de Nuits. From vintage to vintage the blend changes to take in consideration the quality of the grapes with a unique goal: producing the best blend of this wine with the best proportion of Gamay and Pinot Noir.
The grapes are hand harvested. Using approximately thirty percent whole clusters the grapes undergo three weeks of fermentation with a gentle extraction. The wine is aged in old oak barrels for twelve months.
All the vines of the Domaine have been in the family since the 18th century. The Companies C.Marey and Comte Liger-Belair were created in 1720 in Nuits-Saint-Georges and listed in the Lyon Stock Exchange in 1923. They were among the most important wine growing and trading houses in Burgundy. Confident in the quality of its harvests and in the one of its wines, the family has worked hard to enhance the Domaine in acquiring the best Cuvées and in taking care of their distribution both in France and abroad.
