Soalheiro Tasting

Not your standard Vinho Verde. Soalheiro’s Alvarinho ‘Classico’ was one of the favourites at our recent Portuguese tasting, so we thought we’d do a producer specific event to showcase a broader range of their incredible wines based on the Alvarinho grape variety.

Soalheiro started in 1974, when João António Cerdeira planted a small parcel of Alvarinho in Alvaredo, one of Portugal's most northerly towns overlooking the Minho River. This parcel was given the name ’Soalheiro’, meaning ‘sunny’, referring to its location where it’s exposed to sun all day long. Soon after, in 1982, João turned his passion into a small independent family production, officially starting the operation that would become the Soalheiro we know today.

Now in the third generation, Soalheiro has been evolving steadily, but Alvarinho is still the heart and soul of their operation. Through different labels, they aim to express the varietal’s many personalities, whether it’s fruity, mineral, natural, sparkling, rosé… There’s even a red (blend)!

Join us for this seated event in The Wine Library, where we’ll be guided through a selection of these wines so you can see just how special they are.

We make a seating plan for events that are held in The Wine Library. We have both high and low seating options, some more comfy than others, so please inform us if you have any special requirements. Likewise, do tell us if you wish to be sat with someone who has booked separately, we often just have to guess!

Tickets to our tastings are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend, do get in touch as we often keep a cancellations list for those who missed out on tickets. If that’s not the case, we’ll always try and help re-sell them through social media (no guarantees). Alternatively, feel free to pass them to friends or family – we only need the name of the person who booked for entry on the night.
