Sibiliana Viti Sensale Nero d'Avola

Organic wines full of Sicilian character

An established winery in Sicily, Sibiliana Vini uses the latest in modern winemaking technology to produce this range of wines from indigenous Sicilian grapes. The three quality levels of Grillo and Nero d'Avola show the grapes in increasing levels of complexity. The Sibliana 'Sensale' range of wines are full of Sicilian character and offer fantastic value.

The brand was established in 2014, with the aim of selecting the best vineyards and grapes from the conferrers of Europa wineries, to produce the best wines the area could offer.

The naming of the brand refers to the Sibiliana Tower, a symbolic building of the city of Petrosino and the whole area coast between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo. The Sibiliana Tower had a lantern inside it, useful for fishing boats to direct them to the coast. Today as it was then, the value of the Sibiliana lantern remains, they are committed to illuminating and researching the best the area has to offer from a winemaking perspective.

Ripe and soft but with bold flavours of black cherries, plums and baking spices. The deep and intense hue of the liquid is tinged with shades of violet, while its heady bouquet is redolent of wild berries. Lusciously ripe and cradled by the Sicilian sun, this succulent Nero d'Avola is generous and beguiling with its intense, dark fruit. Beautifully balanced with a lingering finish. This is a real crowd pleaser. Simply delicious with grilled steaks or with a hearty braised meat dish.

What is organic wine?

What is organic wine?

Organic wine is wine made from grapes grown in accordance with the principles of organic farming. This excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.

Previously, “Made with Organically Grown Grapes” was legally the only claim possible, but regulations introduced in 2012 now allow the whole winemaking process, from harvest to bottle, to be certified by law.

The definition does still vary from country to country though. In the US, no additional sulfites may be added to any organic product, including wine. In the EU, added sulfites are allowed, though there are limits on how much. Most other wine-producing countries do not have their own standards for organic wine and observe the standards of the nation importing the wine.
