Ripa Rosado

Don’t assume the different shade means it’s sweeter. It has juicy berry fruits with a savoury, herbal edge and subtle smoky notes.

Rioja’s José Luis Ripa is a fan of a more 'serious' rosé. His day job is commercial director at a well-known winery in Haro, but in 2016 he managed to get hold of some old-vine fruit from the Najerilla Valley and made his first vintage of Ripa Rosado. 

This second release is a blend of 85% Garnacha, from 30-year-old bush vines, and 15% Tempranillo. Salmon pink in colour, it’s a rich, gastronomic rosé that’s been aged for 18 months in large oak barrels before bottling.
