Langham Rose NV

A beautiful expression on an English sparkling rosé.

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at their single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures they harvest only the finest grapes possible.

Langham's sparkling Rose is made using 18% of 'reserve wine' which is added to the 2019 vintage base wine which is a wonderful expression of a traditional English sparkling rose. There's a lot going on in the glass, with notes of crisp red apples, cherry bakewell, raspberry yougurt and fresh strawberries at the fore, accompanied by more savoury and saline notes lurking on the mid-palate. There is a well-balanced yet crunchy acidity which carries the finish on this wine very well.

Langham Wine Estate

Langham Wine Estate

The first incarnation of the Langham vineyard was originally established by John Langham as a hobby at Bingham’s Melcombe, a Grade I listed manor house at the heart of the estate. In 2009 John’s son, Justin, decided to develop his father’s idea into a commercial venture, and planted 30 acres of vines a few miles down the road at Crawthorne Farm.

With a south-facing aspect, chalk soils and a unique microclimate, Crawthorne Vineyard provides the perfect terroir for ripening the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. All the grapes are handpicked, and rigorous vineyard selection ensures only the highest quality grapes arrive at the winery.

Langham pride themselves in crafting terroir-driven sparkling wines using grapes only grown in their Dorset vineyard. Taking a low-intervention approach to both grape growing and wine production, they constantly strive to minimise environmental impact and produce honest wines that reflect their terroir.  Without fining or filtration, all Langham wines are vegan friendly.

Celebrating English Wine

Celebrating English Wine

It’s no secret that English Sparkling Wines can stand up to – and often beat – the likes of Champagne. In fact, some of the big Champagne houses are now buying plots of land in the UK for their own vineyards, which is certainly saying something! English still wines are now also gaining a reputation for their high quality – and rightfully so – being full of energy and vibrant acidity.

We’ve spent a lot of time visiting vineyards and winemakers around the country, getting excited about the wines they’re producing. So much so, that our range of English and Welsh wines at Tivoli Wines has grown from a handful of bottles to well over 100.

Just because it’s English, that doesn’t mean we’ll add it to our range. We search for wines that demonstrate quality, uniqueness and value for money.
