Langham Rose NV

A beautiful expression on an English sparkling rosé

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at their single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures they harvest only the finest grapes possible.

Langhams sparkling Rose is made using 15% of 'reserve wine' which is added to the 2018 vintage base wine which is a wonderful expression of a traditional English sparkling rose. There's a lot going on in the glass, with notes of crisp red apples, cherry bakewell, raspberry yougurt and fresh strawberries at the fore, accompanied by more savoury and saline notes lurking on the mid-palate. There is a well-balanced yet crunchy acidity which carries the finish on this wine very well.

Ideal to drink on its own or with light seafood dishes.

The Langham Estate

The Langham Estate

The Langham estate was acquired by John Langham in 1980. The vineyard was originally established at Bingham’s Melcombe, a grade 1 listed manor house situated on the estate by John Langham on a very small scale. In 2009 John’s son, Justin Langham, decided to develop his father’s idea into a commercial venture, and planted 30 acres of vines on their land at Crawthorne Farm, a few miles from Bingham’s Melcombe House.

With a south-facing aspect, chalk soils and a unique microclimate, Crawthorne Vineyard provides the perfect terroir for ripening the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. All the grapes are handpicked, and rigorous vineyard selection ensures only the highest quality grapes arrive at the winery.
