Franz Haas Dolomiti Pinot Grigio

Franz Haas Dolomiti Pinot Grigio

A vibrant Pinot Grigio from Italy’s Alto Adige, home to a dizzying array of white grape varieties, often grown at dizzying heights. The region is nestled in the foothills of the Dolomite mountains and is renowned for its cool-climate Alpine influence.

Franz Haas has been producing wine since 1880 and the family-run estate has been handed down through the generations to each first-born son, bearing the name Franz Haas.

This Pinot Grigio comes from small parcels grown on south-southwest facing slopes at 800m above sea level. Fermentation takes place almost exclusively in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, with a tiny proportion in old barriques. The wine spends four months on its lees, adding body, which most mass-produced Pinot Grigio does not have.

Franz Haas Pinot Grigio has a floral aromatic bouquet reminiscent of acacia, sage, almonds and sandalwood. On the palate, you get the purity of fruit – apple, pear, lemon – with steely mountain freshness shining through.
