Domaine Jean Louis Chave Saint-Joseph Selection Offerus
Cracking Syrah from the Rhône region.
As opposed to the Chave's Domaine Saint-Joseph (which is exclusively sourced from their own vineyards), this bottling named 'Offerus' includes an ever-diminishing proportion of Syrah grapes that Jean-Louis buys in. Like any wine that leaves the estate's cellars in Mauves, this still receives the full Chave level of meticulous quality control.
Black raspberries, violets, ground pepper, and scorched earth define the aromatics, and this beauty is medium-bodied, with a ripe, textured mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and nicely integrated acidity. This juicy, fruit-loaded, yet still classic, incredibly satisfying Saint-Joseph will drink brilliantly over the coming decade.
