David Traeger Maranoa Verdelho

Rich and textured Aussie white, made from the Portuguese Verdelho.

Veteran winemaker David Traeger began his life in the Australian wine industry in 1973. After working as a winemaker for both major and smaller wine companies, in 1986, he established his namesake wine business. After selling his eponymous “David Traeger” brand, he has re-established himself as a small independent winemaker with the aim to produce limited volumes of elegant and distinctive wines from the best vineyard sites.

Verdelho is one of the great grapes of Madeira where it goes into the island's fortified wines, but it has also found a home from home in Australia where it makes distinctive dry wines. David has been working with this variety for over 20 vintages, so he knows a thing or two about great Verdelho.

Straw colour with youthful green hues, it has stone fruit aromas with a touch of ripe melon, rose petal and lychee. These flavours amplify in the mouth, along with crisp acidity and a lingering dry finish. A beautiful wine, especially as the extra time in bottle has brought some nutty richness to the fruit.
