Coste Rousse Thalia Orange
Peachy in colour. Peachy in flavour. A great Languedoc skin-contact.
Domaine Coste Rousse, located near Magalas in the heart of the Côtes de Thongue within the Languedoc region, is an organic family-run estate led by Jean-Pascal Taix.
The winemaking at Domaine Coste Rousse is focused on maintaining the purity and freshness of the fruit. All wines are vinified in cement tanks under strictly controlled temperatures. This meticulous approach results in wines that are notably fresh, tense, and lean—a striking contrast to the often overly extracted and heavy wines traditionally associated with the Languedoc region.
Thalia Orange is a distinctive wine crafted from a blend of grape varieties; Viognier takes up the most part, alongside Vermentino and Muscat. The grapes are destemmed and sorted, followed by a maceration of 12 days under controlled temperatures, with short pumping over several times a day for a gentle extraction. This results in a gorgeous orange hue but doesn’t add too much of a challenging grip. It's aged for 6 months in cement before bottling without fining, filtering or the addition of sulphites.
On the nose, Thalia Orange has an aromatic profile of dried apricot, orange peel, and subtle herbal undertones. On the palate, it’s juicy and peachy with honeysuckle and a pleasant pithy quality running through its core.
