Chateau Talbot Saint-Julien
A fine wine which personifies the style of Saint-Julien.
A prestigious Classified Growth of Saint-Julien, Château Talbot is one of the essential references of the wines of the Left Bank in the Bordeaux region. The estate oversees a unique vineyard, consisting of a 110-hectare single vineyard. Château Talbot enjoys an exceptional terroir due its Garonne gravel-alluvial soils and its close proximity to the Gironde estuary.
A 4th Cru Classé, acquired by Désiré Cordier in 1918, Château Talbot is now run by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon. Benefiting from the expertise oenologist Éric Boissenot and consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt, the wines of Château Talbot are among the most famous in the Médoc. They are recognized for their consistent quality vintage after vintage.
The 2016 vintage began very rainy, followed by particularly dry conditions. Despite moderate yields, the harvested grapes were of a high quality, enticing with richness and aromatic expression.
55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, it opens with pretty floral notes with a core of cassis, blackberry preserves and kirsch plus wafts of cigar box and spearmint. Medium-bodied with a lovely intensity of black and red fruit flavours, it has a ripe, grainy texture and compelling freshness, finishing savoury.
