Cape Wild Sauvignon Blanc
Cool climate South African Sauvignon Blanc.
If you want great quality Sauvignon for around the £10 mark, it's got to be one from South Africa. Cape Wild Sauvignon Blanc is lively and fresh, with soft tropical fruit, citrus and crushed nettle aromas.
Hand harvested grapes come from the cool-climate region of Elgin, supplemented by small parcels from sites in Paarl and Franschhoek. The fruit is very gently pressed and the juice settled for 48 hours before it's naturally fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is kept on its lees for 5 months before bottling and there are no additions other than a small dose of sulphur.
Ripe, concentrated fruit is offset by a grapefruit tang and leafy characters. Taut and mineral with a long, textural finish. It's a little lighter in acidity than some Sauvignons, giving it a more easy-drinking rounded texture. That said, citrus still runs through its core, keeping it vibrant and zesty.
