Cantine Pirovano Beatrice Appassimento
Fantastic quality Appassimento. Rich with dried fruit, tobacco and leather.
Cantine Pirovano is a fourth-generation, family-run winery that’s been making wine since 1910. Situated in the north, they source grapes from the best regions across Italy, crafting a variety of styles.
For this bottle, they’ve ventured south to Puglia to create an Appassimento wine. This is made by partially drying the grapes before fermentation. It’s a centuries-old technique that concentrates the sugars, flavours, and aromas, resulting in a red wine that’s soft, rich, and full of character, with smooth tannins and long, luxurious fruit on the finish.
Beatrice Appassimento Rosso Salento is a blend of Malvasia Nera, Montepulciano, and Negroamaro. The nose is rich with notes of dried fruit, tobacco and leather. The palate is full, super soft and velvety. Bursting with flavours of dried cherries, plums, sweet spice, tobacco leaf and a touch of dark chocolate. There’s a hint of sweetness, which is balanced beautifully by freshness and fine tannins.
