Bender Pinot Noir

Aromatic, sweet red-cherry Pinot, with deeper spice notes.

Born in Leiwen in the Mosel in 1980, Andreas Bender first learnt about soil, viticulture and terroir from his father, a vine propagator, and he made his first wine when he was just thirteen years old! Even at this early age, he knew he wanted to do this for the rest of his life.

After studying winemaking and working in different wineries throughout Germany, France, Italy and the USA, he returned home in 2008 to set up his own project using his family’s vineyards.

"The most important thing for me are first-class grapes from the best locations, traditional winemaking and uncompromising quality.” This Pinot comes from a single vineyard in the Pfalz region of southwest Germany, between the Haardt Mountains and the River Rhine, just north of Alsace. Like Alsace, the mountains protect the area from cold and wet Atlantic weather, making it one of the warmer and drier areas of Germany. Perfect for ripening grapes, and producing elegant, aromatic wines. Silky, with plenty of red fruit, there’s just a touch of vanilla from some oak ageing. Quite frankly, it’s delicious. Buy it.
