Balla Geza Kiralyleanyka Feteasca Regala

Fruity, buttery Romanian white.

Balla Geza are a Romanian winery situated in Transylvania. Its excellent geological location, climate, soil (granite, diorite, mudstone) and influence from the River Mures makes it an ideal place for growing grapes.

They have around 144 hectares of vines, most of which are planted with red varieties, but there is a little white. Their philosophy is to emphasize the traditional grape varieties of Carpathian Basin.

This wine is 100% Kiralyeanyka, also known as the Royal Maiden variety, and comes from a single vineyard in Minis. Grapes are handpicked and fermented with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in large used barrels, which adds texture, but also allows the fruit flavours to take centre stage.

The wine is full of rich yellow fruits, crisp apple and bright citrus, and it has a luxurious palate reminiscent of lemon curd.  It's satisfying and voluptuous with a long finish.
