The Wine People (TWP) is a modern Italian wine producer and brand development company based in Trento, working across several of Italy’s key wine regions including Friuli Venezia Giulia, Sicily, Tuscany and Puglia.

Rather than operating as a single estate, TWP sources grapes from carefully selected vineyard sites in each region, focusing on expressing regional identity through a portfolio of contemporary, accessible wines.

In Friuli Venezia Giulia, TWP produces the Odulin range, showcasing the region’s celebrated white grape varieties such as Friulano and Ribolla Gialla.

The company follows a sustainability-focused approach, with certified organic and vegan-friendly production across its portfolio, and works closely with growers to ensure consistent quality and varietal expression.

Friuli Venezia Giulia is Italy’s far north-eastern wine region, bordering Austria and Slovenia, and is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading areas for elegant, food-friendly white wines.

The region benefits from a unique combination of Alpine influence from the north and warm Adriatic breezes from the south, creating significant day-to-night temperature variation that helps preserve acidity and aromatic precision in the grapes.

Its soils are highly diverse, ranging from gravelly alluvial plains to limestone-rich marl (locally known as ponca), contributing to both freshness and mineral complexity in the wines.

Friuli is especially celebrated for its indigenous white grapes such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia Istriana, alongside international varieties like Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc.

Winemaking here tends to favour purity and restraint, with many producers using stainless steel and minimal oak to highlight varietal expression. The result is a region known for some of Italy’s most refined and gastronomic white wines

Friulano is one of north-eastern Italy’s most important indigenous white grape varieties, traditionally associated with Friuli Venezia Giulia but also grown in neighbouring Slovenia.

Known for producing elegant, medium-bodied wines, Friulano typically shows flavours of pear, citrus, white peach and almond alongside delicate floral and herbal notes. The grape is prized for its naturally soft texture, balanced acidity and subtle savoury character, making it highly versatile with food.

Historically known as Tocai Friulano, the name was shortened to Friulano in 2007 following European naming regulations. The variety thrives in the mineral-rich hillside vineyards of Friuli, where cooler Alpine influences help preserve freshness and aromatic complexity.
