Bodegas César Florido is a historic family‑run winery established in 1887 in Chipiona, a coastal town in the province of Cádiz, Andalucía, Spain.

It is one of the oldest independent producers in the area and remains family‑owned into the fifth generation. Chipiona lies just outside the traditional Sherry Triangle (Jerez, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María) but is recognised within the wider sherry production zone.

César Florido is especially noted for Moscatel‑based wines alongside a classic range of sherry styles including fino, amontillado, oloroso and cream under the Cruz del Mar label.

Cádiz — where the Atlantic meets ancient vineyards, defines one of Spain’s most distinctive wine-producing regions. The province sits at the heart of the historic Sherry Triangle, formed by Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María — the core of fortified-wine tradition that gave the world Sherry and Manzanilla.

The region’s vines thrive on “albariza” soils — pale, chalk-rich earth that retains moisture under hot Mediterranean summers and combines with cooling coastal breezes to nurture the authorised Sherry grapes Palomino Fino, Pedro Ximénez and Moscatel de Alexandria.

Though best known for fortified wines, Cádiz also produces lighter table wines under the broader regional designation Cádiz VdlT, with reds, whites and even aromatic Moscatel wines from coastal and inland districts.

Moscato Bianco

Moscato Bianco, also known as Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains, is one of the oldest and most aromatic wine grapes in the world, with origins traced back to ancient Greece.

It is prized for its intensely perfumed character, producing wines with pronounced aromas of orange blossom, rose petals, jasmine, ripe grape and citrus peel. Despite its sweet-smelling nose, wines made from Moscato Bianco can range from fully sweet to dry and lightly sparkling. The grape retains good natural acidity, which helps balance sweetness and gives freshness on the palate.

Moscato Bianco thrives in warm, sunny climates but benefits from cooler nights, making it well suited to hillside vineyards. It is widely planted in Italy, particularly in Piedmont for Moscato d’Asti and Asti Spumante, as well as in parts of France and beyond.

Cesar Florido Cruz del Mar Cream Sherry is a fortified wine from Spain’s sherry region, made by Bodegas César Florido in the coastal town of Chipiona, Andalucía.

It is a blend of dry Oloroso sherry and Moscatel, aged for around five to seven years in oak barrels using the traditional solera system.

The nose often shows aromatic notes of orange blossom, jasmine, honey, dried fruits and gentle salinity from the nearby Atlantic, with the palate offering dried fruit, toffee, nutty character and a medium‑sweet finish.

This cream-style sherry works beautifully with blue cheeses, foie gras, nutty desserts or chocolate and complements richer foie gras terrines or fruit‑based puddings.
