Sugrue South Downs Tasting

In 2006, Dermot Sugrue and his wife Ana planted a small vineyard at Storrington Priory at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex. Seven years later, their first sparkling wine – ‘The Trouble With Dreams’ – from the 2009 vintage was released. It rapidly gained critical acclaim and cemented Dermot's reputation as one of England’s finest winemakers. 

Since 2022, Dermot and Ana have decided to focus solely on Sugrue South Downs. The staggering quality of the wines each year have earned them a cult-like following, which grows to this day.  

This event will be hosted by Ana Sugrue, co-owner, fellow winemaker and sales director of Sugrue South Downs, and she’s bringing with her a back vintage of their top cuvée Dr Brendan O’Reagan. Very special stuff. 

We make a seating plan for events that are held in The Wine Library. We have both high and low seating options, some more comfy than others, so please inform us if you have any special requirements. Likewise, do tell us if you wish to be sat with someone who has booked separately, we often just have to guess!  

Tickets to our tastings are non-refundable. If you can no longer attend, do get in touch as we often keep a cancellations list for those who missed out on tickets. If that’s not the case, we’ll always try and help re-sell them through social media (no guarantees). Alternatively, feel free to pass them to friends or family – we only need the name of the person who booked for entry on the night.
