Domaine de Brunet is a fifth-generation, family estate perched on the Causse de la Selle plateau in the Terrasses du Larzac, facing Pic Saint-Loup.

The Coulet family farms organically (certified from 2022) and bottles on site, shaping Mas Brunet and Dolinebrune cuvées that reflect this high, limestone terroir.

In their centuries-old cellar, modern equipment—pneumatic press, cooled tanks and French oak—supports slow élevage and blending of individually vinified plots.

Reds lean on Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre for supple, spice-laced wines; whites such as Roc Blanc show bright stone fruit and lift. Expect elegant, age-worthy Languedoc wines with freshness and a distinct sense of place.

Brunet offers twelve cuvées and one liqueur wine. Among the Protected Appellations of Origin to which they belong, Terrasses du Larzac, Languedoc or IGP Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert, they express the particularity of the terroir of Brunet. Brunet offers wines tuned in verticality, balanced and silky, ethereal and elegant. Each cuvée has been estate grown, blended, bottled and aged to develop a unique personality.

Languedoc-Roussillon, stretching along France’s Mediterranean coast, is one of the country’s largest and most diverse wine regions. Known for its sunshine-rich climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, the area is ideal for grape growing. The region benefits from varied soils—limestone, clay, schist, and gravel—contributing complexity and character to its wines.

Traditionally a volume-focused region, Languedoc-Roussillon has undergone a quality revolution in recent decades. Today, it produces expressive, terroir-driven wines across a wide spectrum of styles. Red blends dominate, featuring Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. These wines are typically full-bodied with ripe black fruit, spice, garrigue (wild herb) notes, and earthy undertones. Whites, made from grapes like Picpoul, Grenache Blanc, and Marsanne, offer fresh acidity and citrus, stone fruit, or floral flavours.

The region is also known for crisp Picpoul de Pinet, aromatic Muscat, and traditional method sparkling wines from Limoux—the latter believed to predate Champagne. Roussillon, with its Catalan influence, excels in fortified sweet wines (vins doux naturels) like Banyuls and Maury, rich with dried fruit, chocolate, and nutty flavours.

Viognier is a distinctive white grape variety known for its aromatic intensity and rich, full-bodied wines. Originally from the northern Rhône Valley in France, particularly the appellations of Condrieu and Château-Grillet, Viognier has gained international recognition for its unique floral and stone fruit character.

Viticulturally, Viognier can be challenging to grow. It’s prone to low yields, sensitive to mildew, and requires careful vineyard management to balance ripeness and retain acidity. It thrives in warm, sunny climates where it can fully develop its aromatics without becoming overly alcoholic or flabby.

Today, Viognier is planted in several key wine regions around the world, including the Languedoc in southern France, California’s Central Coast, Virginia and Washington State in the USA, South Australia, South Africa, and parts of Chile and Argentina. It’s often made as a varietal wine but is also blended—famously with Syrah in Côte-Rôtie to enhance aroma and texture.

Viognier typically produces lush, aromatic wines with low to moderate acidity and high alcohol. Common flavours include apricot, peach, honeysuckle, orange blossom, and sometimes exotic spices. Styles range from unoaked and fresh to rich, barrel-aged versions with creamy texture. Viognier is a compelling choice for lovers of expressive, aromatic whites.

Vermentino is a white grape variety believed to have originated in the western Mediterranean, likely in Italy or possibly Corsica, with a long history in coastal wine regions. It thrives in warm, sunny climates and is particularly associated with Liguria, Tuscany, and Sardinia in Italy, as well as Corsica and southern France (where it is known as Rolle). In recent years, plantings have expanded to Australia, California, and other New World regions with similar maritime conditions.

Viticulturally, Vermentino is well-suited to poor, rocky soils and resists drought, making it ideal for coastal and hillside vineyards. It tends to ripen late, maintaining good acidity even in hot weather. The grape’s aromatic potential is maximised with careful canopy management to protect from excessive sunburn.

Vermentino produces wines that range from crisp and refreshing to fuller-bodied, depending on ripeness and winemaking choices. The classic style is dry, light to medium-bodied, with zesty acidity and pronounced aromatics of citrus, green apple, pear, and tropical fruit, often accompanied by herbal notes of thyme, sage, or fennel, and a subtle saline minerality reflecting maritime influence. More textured examples may see lees ageing, adding richness and nutty complexity. Versatile and food-friendly, Vermentino is valued for its vibrant freshness and Mediterranean character.

Grenache Blanc is the white-skinned variant of the red Grenache (Garnacha) grape and is believed to have originated in northeastern Spain. Today, it is widely planted in southern France, particularly in the Languedoc and southern Rhône Valley, and is also grown in Spain (as Garnacha Blanca), South Africa, California, and increasingly in Australia.

This variety thrives in warm, dry climates and is often used in blends, particularly in white Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône wines, where it adds body, texture, and freshness. It is frequently blended with Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier, but varietal expressions are also growing in popularity.

Grenache Blanc typically produces medium- to full-bodied wines with moderate acidity and a generous texture. Aromas often include green apple, pear, citrus peel, and stone fruits, along with herbal or floral notes such as fennel, white flowers, and occasionally a hint of saline minerality. With age or oak influence, it can develop richer, honeyed and nutty characteristics.

Viticulturally, Grenache Blanc is drought-tolerant and productive, making it well-suited to hot, arid environments. However, it can be prone to oxidation if not handled carefully in the cellar. Maintaining freshness and balance is key, especially in warmer climates where acidity may drop quickly as ripeness advances.
