Josef & Philipp Brundlmayer Gruner Veltliner

Classic Gruner Veltliner from a top site in Kremstal. Lively and crisp.

It hasn’t been that long since Philipp Bründlmayer took the reins of the family winery from his father Josef. Josef started out in 1980 with not much more than his hands and a passion for wine. Philipp had the luxury of inheriting 18 hectares scattered over Fifty-two plots: mainly Gruner Veltliner, and many of them are top sites in the Krems Valley. Most of their sites are on the rich loessterraces (terraced hill sides) of the two villages of Gedersdorf and Rohrendorf.

Kremstal offers an ideal climate for Gruner Veltliner with cold winds that help to keep the climate mild and allow for the grapes to ripen without losing vital acidity. The winery practices an organic approach to farming and will harvest by hand.

Every single vineyard is vinified separately. The most important wines of the estate are matured individually and beyond their specific hallmarks they bear substance, character and potential. Slow fermentation occurs in steel tanks followed by resting on the lees for four months.

The wine itself displays a lovely array of bright citrus fruits, apple, pear and the signature white pepper that Gruner Veltliner has become known for. Perfect with light dishes, fish, chicken or on its own.
