Woodchester Valley Orpheus Bacchus

Ripe, aromatic with a touch of spice a great Bacchus from Gloucestershire.

Woodchester's fuller, riper expression of Bacchus, from each year's best producing vineyards. Very clear pale gold in the glass. Initial aromas of citrus and stone fruits with hints of jasmine and mineral notes opening to reveal pear, fennel and lemon.

On the palate there is plenty of orchard fruit and a deliciously creamy texture with focused acidity. As the wine unfolds across the palate, hints of quince and honey and grilled lemon emerge. Gorgeous texture - surprisingly weighty yet perfectly balanced with a very long finish.

Woodchester Valley Vineyard

Woodchester Valley Vineyard

Woodchester Valley is a family owned vineyard and winery in the Cotswolds and was established in 2007. Their 56 acres of vines are spread over Amberley, Woodchester and Doverow Hill (Stonehouse).

They grow a range of grape varieties across the three sites, with some like Amberley and Woodchester better suited to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, while Doverow Hill is best for Bacchus.

The team at Woodchester make a number of excellent still and sparkling wines at their on site winery which opened in 2016. All the grapes are handpicked and lightly pressed with a slow, cool fermentation to preserve the aromatics and fruit characteristics of cool climate wines.
