The Burgundy Alternatives

We adore the wines of Burgundy, both white and red, but with prices still rocketing ever-upwards, it's hard not to find the eye wandering towards the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of the new world, as well as alternative grape varieties achieving similarly complex wines, like Gamay from the top Beaujolais Crus, Mencia from north west Spain, or the white Carricante from Mount Etna.
