Rum

Delicious sugarcane spirits from across the Caribbean Read More Show Less

Rum, likely the world's oldest commercially produced distilled spirit, has to be made from sugarcane, but that still leaves a wide range of possible styles. Each country tends to exhibit a style depending on the country that first 'discovered' it. The Spanish countries, like Cuba or the Dominican Republic lean towards the sweeter, more refined end, the English like Jamaica and Barbados far more in common with the molasses it is made with, while the French islands, following political turmoil, found themselves using sugarcane juice instead of molasses, resulting in a livelier, grassy spirit.
