Simpsons Rabbit Hole Pinot Noir
Wonderful English Pinot Noir.
Could England ever make Pinot Noir as good as Burgundy? Well, based on what we've tasted recently, don't rule it out. At these northerly latitudes, our extended growing seasons results in superb quality fruit, which will only get better as our vines get older and the understanding of our vineyards grows.
Similarly to their Chardonnay, this comes from Burgundy clones of Pinot Noir, not Champagne/sparkling wine clones, which goes to show how things are warming up this side of the channel. Plenty of rich, dark fruit flavour, while a short time in French oak adds a little spice and softens things a touch.
