Sharpham Dart Valley Reserve

Soft, fruity English white; picnic optional.

Perhaps Sharpham's core white wine, 100% Madeleine Angevine. This wine is ripe and fruit driven and has a rich profile. Stone fruits such as white peach dominate the nose. The palate is rounded with sweet apricot and a subtle spice on the finish

A blend of free run and pressed juice fermented in stainless steel tanks with a small proportion having French oak contact before being carefully blended. This is our largest production wine of about 20,000 bottles per year.

Historically there has been an indifference to hybrid grapes like Madeleine; if they're not good enough to be grown internationally, why should we care? Well, here's why: in England's often marginal climate, it makes a consistently delicious, bright, fruity white wine, great for lovers of Loire Valley Chenin Blanc. Sharpham have had a great deal of success with the grape, first planting it next to the old manor house over thirty years ago.

Sharpham Estate Winery

Sharpham Estate in Devon is located just off the River Dart with the first vineyard planted in 1981. A further vineyard was planted in 2008 on the east bank of the River Dart on the Sandridge Barton estate this also houses the brand new winery and Cafe.

Duncan Schwab and his team have been making wine at Sharpham for over 25 years from refreshing whites to light bodied reds and award winning sparkling wines.

The cool climate here provides the vines with a long growing season to gently ripen the grapes, preserving wonderful fresh aromas and flavours.
