Odfjell Carignan
One of our favourite Chilean wines, from the old vines of Maule.
Owned by Norwegian shipping magnate, Dan Odfjell, with grapes from 100 year old Carignan vines in Maule, fairly far south for Chilean winemaking. This is nothing if not an interesting wine. Carignan loves to get ripe but rather than ending up jammy and unbalanced, keeps itself in check with good acidity and fresh fruit flavours. Decant for an hour then dive in to a relentless display of fruit, flowers and minerals.
