Meyer-Nakel Spatburgunder

A mineral-laden, silky Spätburgunder.

When it was once thought that German red wine should only be sweet, Meyer-Näkel went against the grain and pioneered the production of dry reds. Now in the fifth generation of the family, sisters Maike and Dörte Näkel continue to craft elegant Pinots.
Situated in the Ahr Valley, Meyer-Näkel is technically a little far north as far as winemaking is concerned, however here lies an ideal microclimate. Steep south-facing slopes are poised to catch as much sunshine as possible, with the slate and greywacke soils soaking up heat and enabling the vines to grow and grapes to ripen.
Pinot Noir reflects this terroir with style. Charming berries and cherries with mineral notes, herbs and a trace of spice. Beautiful.
Also worthy of mentioning, Meyer-Näkel are a certified member of FAIR'N GREEN – a recognised system for sustainable viticulture in Germany.
