Loxarel in Catalonia specialise in the Xarel-lo variety; it's in their name, after all. This is an extraordinary rendition of the variety, aged in clay amphora for 5 months. The amphora helps to stir the wine's spent yeast cells, the lees, through the wine perpetually. The result is a remarkable creaminess, offset beautifully by the variety's natural acidity, while its flavours of dusty hazlenut and bright green apple meld perfectly. A lovely, lovely wine.
