Stony, densely fruity single village Beaujolais.
From siblings Claude-Emanuel and Louis-Benoit Desvignes, who took over from their father in the early 2000s, this is a wonderful example of the balance that the Beaujolais village of Morgon can produce. It often seems to have some of the muscularity and energetic minerality of Brouilly with the tenderness and perfume of Fleurie. This is a great introduction to how seriously good Beaujolais is, at prices which comapared to Burgundy look like exceptional value.
