Ktima Gerovassiliou Estate White
A fantastic blend of native Greek grapes.
Winemaker Vangelis Gerovassiliou may well be the father of Greek winemaking. After studying at Thessaloniki and Bordeaux, working at the latter with the esteemed Emile Peynaud, Vangelis returned home to work his family's vineyards at Epanomi. During this time, he also happened upon the long-since-forgotten native grape Malagouzia, which makes up half of the blend in this wine. The other half is the steely, high acid Assyrtiko, dovetailing wonderfully with the more textural, exotically musky aromas of Malagouzia. We find it hard to imagine a better wine to pair flexibly with the vast cornucopia of Greek cuisine.
