Ktima Gerovassiliou Estate White

A fantastic blend of native Greek grapes.

Winemaker Vangelis Gerovassiliou may well be the father of Greek winemaking. After studying at Thessaloniki and Bordeaux, working at the latter with the esteemed Emile Peynaud. Vangelis returned home to work his family's vineyards at Epanomi. During this time, he also happened upon the long-since-forgotten native grape Malagouzia, which makes up half of the blend in this wine. The other half is the steely, high acid Assyrtiko, dovetailing wonderfully with the more textural, exotically musky aromas of Malagouzia. We find it hard to imagine a better wine to pair flexibly with the vast cornucopia of Greek cuisine.

Skin contact has occurred at cold temperatures and is retained for a few hours. Alcoholic fermentation occurs after in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 18 ºC.

Displaying lovely bright blond in colour with greenish shades, it has a distinctive nose with impressions of exotic fruit and notes of green pepper, jasmine, orange, melon and lemon. First contact with the palate exudes refinement, characterised overall by richness, harmony, a pleasant vitality and a lemony finish.

At Ktima Gerovassiliou the vineyard is cultivated with great care and enthusiasm that leads Gerovassiliou to constantly research and experiment with Greek and foreign varieties, both well- and less- known. New technological advances blend well with tradition throughout vine growing and vinification processes.
