Knightor Trevannion

Elegant, off-dry aromatic English white.

Noticeably off-dry, this is a dangerously easy-drinking English white from the tropical, floral and spicy Siegerrebe and Schšnburger varieties. Fantastic with spicy food, cheese, fruit salads or as an aperitif. A pale green wine, it has perfumed aromas of rose petal, lychee and citrus zest. The palate does not disappoint, showing superb complexity of flavour, citrusy with a characteristic spiciness to finish. Trevannion is medium bodied and smooth, with an off dry finish and great length.

This is the first time since 2016 that Knightor have been able to make this wine. Its aromatic blend of Siegerrebe, Schonberger and Muller Thurgau. The grapes were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks to retain the natural fruit aromas and flavours. The wines were left to age on lees for 5 months before a blend was decided upon. .

The wine is named for Elizabeth Trevannion owner of Knightor and Gorran Castle in the late 16th century. Her husband wrote 'I married a gentlewoman more for her worth than her wealth'.  I hope you agree that this 2019 vintage lives up to her name and has been worth the wait.

The Knightor Story

Knightor Winery is a producer of premium quality English still and sparkling wines, located in mid Cornwall, a stones throw from the Eden Project. Set in a tranquil location above St Austell Bay, Knightor Winery is positioned within 4 acres of beautiful Cornish pasture, orchard and hedgerows.

In winemaking weather and climate are king and each year varies, so  Knightor make multiple blends and single varietal wines often in short runs of less than 2000 bottles. This allows the grapes to express themselves. Cool ferments and light touches of oak where it adds value, with careful blending or ageing to achieve depth and balance.

The cool climate and low yields allow them to produce lighter, fruitier, lower alcohol wines with good acidity. Minimal intervention means all the wines are vegan friendly, low in sulphates and the sweetness comes from fruit, not sugar.
