Summary of Tour

The Introduction to English Wine Experience begins at The Wine Library, our very own wine tasting room in the heart of Cheltenham (transportation can be organised upon request). Here, one of our own WSET-qualified educators will perform a private wine tasting of six to eight English wines.

We’ll focus on the rapid rise of English wine over the past 10 years, including the challenges and opportunities currently facing the market, whilst highlighting some the major influencing factors that have made English wine one of the fastest growing wine regions in the world.

As one of the country’s largest retailers of English wine, we will showcase a selection of our favourite producers, introducing you to lesser-known grape varieties as well as styles that confidently compete with some of the world’s greatest wines.

We’ll then jump into our luxury 8-seater Mercedes and head south to the award-winning Woodchester Valley Vineyard, where you’ll be joining their Sparkling Vineyard Tour & Tasting.

Kicking off with a full glass of fizz on arrival, you will discover the history of Woodchester Valley Vineyard and understand how they maintain their award-winning status. You’ll be taken on a tour around the vineyard learning about grape production and influences on quality, before heading into the winery to listen to the winemaking team discuss influences on style and production. The tour concludes with a seated, tutored tasting of their sparkling wine range (four wines) and one still wine that’s exclusive to the vineyard.

Your Vine & Orchard guide will then transport you back to Cheltenham (or an alternative location on request). Book now for the ultimate Cotswolds wine experience!

Woodchester Valley Vineyard

Woodchester Valley Vineyard

Established in 2007, the picturesque Woodchester Valley Vineyard began with a single acre planted in Amberley, Stroud. Fast-forward fifteen years and they now have three vineyard sites, spread over 56 hectares of beautiful Cotswolds countryside, producing over 25,000 bottles each year, in a variety of styles including Bacchus, Seyval Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and the classic grapes of Champagne – Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.

Celebrating English Wine

Celebrating English Wine

It’s no secret that English Sparkling Wines can stand up to – and often beat – the likes of Champagne. In fact, some of the big Champagne houses are now buying plots of land in the UK for their own vineyards, which is certainly saying something! English still wines are now also gaining a reputation for their high quality – and rightfully so – being full of energy and vibrant acidity.

We’ve spent a lot of time visiting vineyards and winemakers around the country, getting excited about the wines they’re producing. So much so, that our range of English and Welsh wines at Tivoli Wines has grown from a handful of bottles to well over 100, not to mention launching Vine & Orchard Adventures, our sister wine tours brand.

Just because it’s English, that doesn’t mean we’ll add it to our range. We search for wines that demonstrate quality, uniqueness and value for money.
