Finca Allende Rioja Tinto

Modern, fruit driven Rioja.

The small village of Briones lies above the Rioja Alta region and is home to the Finca Allende winery and its vineyards. This, the wine they first produced, is modern in style but respectful to the traditions of the area. Their ethos is that 'wine is made in the vineyard', so in order to produce a more fruit driven Rioja, they use French oak over American, and only for 15 months. In return, the wine has a fresher character than most Riojas. There's a depth of black fruit on the nose, with the oak just appearing in its support. Despite coming from the 2010 vintage, this is barely approaching full maturity, but in its relative youth has all of the fruit to make it as delicious now as it will be in another 5-10 years.
