Adega Cachin Peza do Rei Tinto
Red fruit focussed Mencia from the steep slopes of Ribeira Sacra.
Mencia is north-west Spain's native red grape and is perfectly suited to this warm but wet corner of the country. It often carries parallels with Pinot Noir, in that it is very expressive of where it is grown, and this display of terroir is why we love it so much. The steep slopes of Ribeira Sacra help the region's high levels of rainfall to run down into the nearby Edo River, while the long summers give the grapes the chance to ripen perfectly. The result is intense red fruit on the nose with a concentrated yet refreshing finish. Brilliant with tomatoey meat stews.
